With the introduction to this page in my blog, being a wheelchair user I intend to write my various travel and hangout experiences of places, various lifestyles concerned with accessibility issues for wheelchair persons and to other forms of disability as well. It’s important to highlight these features and provide proper information so that others can go out and enjoy their happy times with family and friends as well. If you would like to contribute information to this page as a normal or disabled person, please feel free to mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org with a subject name Accessible Places having details including pictures if possible about the place you visited and we will post it on our blog with your name being the information provider. Together we can help to bring smile on every disabled individual who are stuck in their premises without proper guidance.
So let us begin with my 1st experience to record on my blog. This happened around Nov weekend 2016, a historic week where our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi had announced demonetization of our currency. One of our close friend Deepa was in town for her official work for two days and we had to meet her. The entire city had went into chaotic frenzy with “no money” thing but ignoring these facts, we decide lets enjoy the evening to our name.
If it was me alone, then I wouldn’t even bother to research about the place because I am ok with anyone lifting my wheelchair for two three steps with help of staffs or my friends who are accompanying with me. That’s how I generally go out. But here there are two friends who are in wheelchair so research is a must. With a few brainstorming in the earlier weeks and some infos on zomato.com I came about a few places which are nearby to my friend deepa’s hotel and wheelchair accessible. If there was no option left then hangout in malls would be the only place to meet.
So our pick was Soda Bottle Openerwala in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai. A Parsi themed restaurant with good Parsi and Iranian cuisine, good ambience to chill with variety of drinks. A concept that is unique to India; the dying legacy of the wonderful chaotic, crowded, bustling, real world of an Irani café. We reached there early evening to book our table as it’s a very busy and happening place in Bandra. The entrance had a small ramp which was easy to use. We informed them that we would need a table for 5 people from which 3 (Santosh, Deepa, Prasad) are wheelchair persons require good table heights and also accommodating our wheelchair space. We had to wait awhile as the staff coordinated accordingly and provided us with a proper suited table. Then the time just flowed on from the lovely quality parsi foods with variety of veg and non-veg to the drinks of beer whiskey and wine. Check the given link below of food and ambience of Soda Bottle Openerwala.
We had a great time dining outside as we didn’t notice it was late night. we reached home around 2 am. Thankfully the weekend had already begun so there was not much disturbance in our work schedule. Going out alone with friends made me realize the need for database of accessible places where we could hangout in future. I hope you all enjoyed reading this and hopefully you will support this page with your added information. Enjoy the weekend and I will come back with next week episode of my another visit in recent times.
